Barbados constituents fulfil results-based management requirements ahead of new DWCP

Tripartite partners in Barbados are now better equipped to prepare for a new Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) after successfully completing an intensive ILO-led training in results-based management (RBM).

Held over five days (24-28 July 2024), the workshop marked an initial step in the process to develop a new DWCP. Through the training, officials representing the Government, workers’ organizations and employers’ organizations demonstrated a joint commitment to achieve decent work and inclusive economic growth that will benefit the people of Barbados.

Those in attendance included representatives from the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector; Ministry of Public Service; Barbados Employers’ Confederation; The Barbados Light and Power Company Ltd; Prison Officers’ Association; Barbados Union of Teachers; Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados; Barbados Workers’ Union; National Union of Public Workers; Barbados Nurses Association; Prison Officers’ Association; Barbados Union of Teachers; Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados; Barbados Workers’ Union; National Union of Public Workers; and Barbados Nurses Association.

Designed to help constituents establish an evaluation tool and supporting practices, the training included interactive learning exercises to determine results formulation. Core activities included establishing a results framework; data collection and analysis; monitoring and evaluation; and designing a results matrix.

The event precedes a Decent Work Country Diagnostic (DWCD) which is expected to take place later this year to identify priorities and challenges as input to the development of the Decent Work Country Programme.

Upon completion of the RBM workshop, the ILO Caribbean team is continuing to collaborate with the Government and social partners as they prepare for a new Barbados DWCP.
