Azerbaijan ratifies all fundamental Conventions

Azerbaijan is the 75th country to ratify the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No. 187).

Ratification ceremony of Convention No. 187, 3 June 2026: Mr. Anar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, and Mr Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director-General of the ILO.

GENEVA (ILO News) – On Wednesday, 3 June 2026, Mr Anar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, presented the instrument of ratification of the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 (No. 187) to the ILO Director-General, Mr. Gilbert Houngbo.

In depositing the instrument of ratification, the Minister reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to promoting a preventive safety and health culture and continuously improving safety and health standards, while stating that: “This important step reflects Azerbaijan’s determination to protect workers’ well-being and further align its national policies with international labour standards”.

When receiving the instrument of ratification, Mr. Houngbo, declared: “With this milestone ratification, Azerbaijan has now ratified all fundamental standards and once again affirmed its strong commitment to the fundamental principles and rights at work, including the right to a safe and healthy working environment. Azerbaijan is the 75th country to ratify Convention No. 187. I sincerely welcome Azerbaijan’s commitment to occupational safety and health, and its dedication to the international labour standards system. “
