Astana hosts 4th Kazakhstan International Occupational Safety and Health Conference and Exhibition KIOSH 2014
On April 24-25 Astana hosted the 4th Kazakhstan International Occupational Safety and Health Conference and Exhibition KIOSH 2014. It was devoted to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work marked on April 28.

“Occupational safety and health is the basis of any production. Along with this, it is necessary to highlight importance of close cooperation among governments, employers and trade unions in occupational safety,” said Tamara Duseinova, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population.
Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abelgazi Kusainov said every year around 2,000 people in his country suffered from injuries at work.
In his report Senior Labour Inspection and Occupational Safety and Health Specialist of the ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team and Country Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Valentin Mocanu focused on standards of the International Labour Organization and the occupational safety and health management system.
The KIOSH 2014 conference brought together experts of the ILO, the World Health Organization, the Center for Risk, Safety and the Environment (CERISE), the Republican Occupational Safety Scientific and Research Institute at Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Representatives of large industrial companies from Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine shared their occupational safety and health experience within the conference’s framework.
