Around 200 trainees benefit from a job fair to access jobs in Jordan’s garment and textile sector

Amman, Jordan (ILO NEWS)- The Garment Design Training Services Centre held a Job Fair for participants who completed the requirements of the ILO’s "Work-Based Learning" project in Jordan, which included approximately 200 trainees, most of whom were women.

The event was attended by representatives of several factories operating in the garment and textile sector in the country, aiming to connect the trainees with these factories with the goal of providing real job opportunities for them and meeting the factories' needs for trained Jordanian labour.

The Garment Design Training Services Centre is one of Jordan’s leading training institutions in the field of developing factory capacities and training young men and women who wish to work in the fashion, design and garment sector.

The centre implemented the "Work-Based Learning" project in cooperation with Jordan’s Vocational and Technical Skills Development Commission, the Jordan Chamber of Industry, and the Skills Council, with support from the International Labour Organization (ILO) through the wider project titled "Formalizing Access to the Legal Labour Market for Refugees and Host Communities in Jordan," funded by the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the U.S. Department of State.

The event's opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mr. Abdul Fattah Al-Kayed, Executive Director of the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation, Her Excellency Dr. Raghda Al-Faouri, Executive Director of the Vocational and Technical Skills Development Commission, Mr. Qais Qatamin, Programme of Support Coordinator at the International Labour Organization, Engineer Ihab Al-Qadri, Representative of the Garment and Textile Sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center, and Mr. Hassan Al-Nassour, Executive Director of the Center, along with a large number of attendees.
