Armenian constituents interviewed on gender and youth employment issues
On 3–6 December 2018, a delegation consisting of Niall O’Higgins, Sr Employment Research Specialist, Youth Employment Programme (ILO Geneva), and Kanae Tada, Project Junior Technical Officer (Research), ILO Moscow Office, conducted in Yerevan a series of interviews with representatives from the Armenian Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia, the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia, and other partners.

Other respondents included representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science, the State Employment Agency, the National Centre for Vocational Education and Training Development, the Small & Medium Entrepreneurship Development National Center of Armenia, the CareerLab Professional Orientation Methodological Center, and the United Nations Population Fund.
Topics discussed during the interviews included the current gender pay gap (particularly among young people), and policies and programmes to address the issue.
The ILO will use the interviews results for its study on gender-related employment issues among the Armenian youth. The study is being conducted under the ILO project “Partnership for youth employment in the Commonwealth of Independent States” (YEP-CIS), funded by the Russian company LUKOIL.
The research results will be then shared with and discussed among other CIS countries at the sub-regional meeting in May 2019.
