From ambition to action: Global Coalition for Social Justice launches key interventions

GENEVA (ILO News) – The Global Coalition for Social Justice convenes its Annual Forum on Thursday, 12 June 2025, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, as part of the 113th International Labour Conference. In an era of rapid transformations, the Forum serves as a trusted platform for meaningful dialogue and concrete commitments to advance a human-centred social agenda. This year’s gathering is particularly significant, taking place in a landmark year that will culminate in the Second World Summit for Social Development.

Now fully operational since its establishment in 2023, the Coalition unites over 370 partners committed to advance concrete action for social justice for everyone, everywhere.

Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic, will open the Forum and give a keynote speech alongside the Coalition’s Coordinating Group members: Gilbert F. Houngbo (ILO Director-General and Vice Chair), Luiz Marinho (representing the government of Brazil and Vice Chair), Roberto Suárez (IOE Secretary-General) and Luc Triangle (ITUC General Secretary).

This year’s Forum comprises three parallel sessions in the morning and afternoon, taking place in Rooms XX and XXIII, as well as in the Partner’s Zone. These sessions will address six critical and thematic areas aligned with the Coalition’s key interventions, each of which already generating concrete results on the ground. The themes include: the promotion of living wages; responsible business conduct; just transitions facilitated through social dialogue; the advancement of a Human Rights Economy; youth empowerment; and the responsible use of artificial intelligence for social development. The sessions bring together over 20 ministers from all regions, alongside heads of international organization and other leaders.
