YAMOUSSOUKRO (ILO News) – The International Labour Office (ILO) and the African Union’s Pan African Training Centre of Statistics organized for the first time the Academy on statistics and labour market analysis for French-Speaking countries in Africa.
From 24 October to 4 November 2016 in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire, participants will attend a technical training course on Labour Statistics and Labour Market Information Analysis.
The aim is to build technical and institutional capacity to collect and analyse information on the labour market, establishing a labour market profile, and using the labour market diagnosis to design, implement and monitor appropriate policies.
The training will tackle different items from addressing the challenges of data collection to data analysis, a focus on decent work indicators and the indicators of the sustainable development goals, the promotion of gender indicators, and how best to measure labour statistics, employment, unemployment and underutilization of labour.
The ILO supports member states in putting in place or maintain sound labour market information and analysis systems in order to produce accurate and comparable data on decent work and labour market conditions, and use them to develop evidence-based policy-making towards inclusive national employment policies.
