La Paz - As part of the ILO's "Bolivia Digna y Productiva" project, the ITC conducted a theoretical and practical training programme for 21 representatives of different business associations and export sector institutions.

Over 10 days, the participants were guided through the application of a selection of ITC's market analysis tools (including Export Potential Map, MAcMap, TradeMap and StandardsMap). Each participant focused on the practical development of a market fact sheet for a national product, targeting a foreign market.

The training process concluded with very good results and high satisfaction on the part of the participants. Among some of the opinions received was that of Victor Hugo Gonzales, General Manager of the Chamber of Exporters of Cochabamba CADEXCO, who said:

In general, the workshop was useful because we learned the use of tools that we did not know. With this workshop we have been able to learn useful things that will help us to provide exporters and importers with information to make the right decisions in international trade.

Martin López, the ITC trainer who led the training, expressed his satisfaction with the intervention of the "Bolivia Digna y Productiva" project and CEPB, who coordinated the organization of the initiative.

One thing we appreciated was the broad call and careful selection of participants, all of whom were workers from institutions that operate in the front line for the provision of information and advisory services to entrepreneurs.

The participating institutions included: the National Chamber of Exporters of Bolivia; the Bolivian Institute of Foreign Trade; the Chamber of Exporters of La Paz; the Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Services of Cochabamba; the Chamber of Exporters, Logistics and Investment Promotion of Santa Cruz; the Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Services of Tarija; the Chamber of Industry, Commerce, Services and Tourism of Chuquisaca; and the Bolivian Chamber of Exporters of Quinoa and Organic Products.

It is worth noting that this initiative is aimed at contributing to the private sector's efforts to reactivate, diversify and develop domestic production, in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on business and employment. Participating institutions now have enhanced skills to analyze international markets for almost any domestic product.
