2019 Social Protection Public Discussion
The International Labour Organization (ILO) and its partners are organising a Social Protection Public Discussion under the theme ‘Implications of National Debt on Social Protection Financing and Sustainability’.

The Social Protection Public Discussion is a joint initiative by the University of Zambia (UNZA), Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) and Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflections (JCTR) working in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) with support of Irish Aid. The purpose of the public discussion is to stimulate and strengthen public dialogue on social protection related issues to ensure that policy decisions address the needs of the vulnerable populations and the country as a whole. The public discussions aim at fostering public debate on social protection and its link to alleviating poverty, contribution to sustainable development and promotion of social justice. The underlying purpose is to strengthen collaboration on social protection issues amongst policy makers, the civil society, academia, local and international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) as well as the general public.
The discussion topic will be on ‘Implications of National Debt on Social Protection Financing and Sustainability’. Presentations will be made by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflections and International Labour Organization.
The Social Protection Public Discussion will be held at the University of Zambia Chapel, along Great East Road Campus on Wednesday, 28th August, 2019, from 14:00 hours to 15:30 hours. The public discussions are open to; students of social policy, local and international NGOs, policy makers, academicians, media and the general public.
