12 days against exploitation of child labour campaign ends in North Kazakhstan region
The annual national information campaign “12 days against exploitation of child labour” aimed at raising public awareness about the problem of child labour ended in Petropavlovsk. By tradition one of the main organizers of the campaign in the North Kazakhstan region was the regional department for child labour protection.

“In all media sources we placed articles on the course of the campaign. The department’s website has “No to child labour!” section that contains information about child labour. On the first day of the campaign on June 1 officials of the department together with volunteers gathered on Petropavlovsk’s main street to hand out leaflets “Attention! Child labour!” containing information about the national campaign and hotline numbers of the department and child counseling office. A total of 500 leaflets were handed out,” said Vladimir Litvinenko, the head of the department for child labour protection.
Within the campaign’s framework “The rights of children in the world of adults” dialogue platform was organized. It brought together representatives of the department for control and social protection, Petropavlovsk’s education department, juvenile police and lawyers. Twenty people received free legal consultations on labour of underage children and protection of children’s rights.
Together with the trade union of the North Kazakhstan branch of Kazakhtelecom telecommunication network a discussion focusing on provisions of the legislation concerning underage labour was organized for children of the network’s employees.
Boarding schools and summer camps also organized discussion “We are for happy childhood, we are against child labour!”, theatrical performances “Say ‘No’ to child labour” and interactive quizzes on the rights of heroes in fairy tales.
