Labour Inspection in Syria

The 2008-2010 Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) in Syria saw the adoption of a proposal to increase the number of labour inspectors as well as the launch and rollout of a computerised labour inspection toolkit. The ILO also supported Syria to integrate labour inspection with occupational health and safety standards as well as social security inspections. In addition, the Organisation produced a labour inspection audit report that was approved by the MOSAL as well as a national training plan for labour inspection.
An action plan to implement the labour inspection audit’s recommendations has also been developed by the ILO and partially implemented in Syria. Furthermore, the ILO’s International Training Centre in Turin has also developed labour inspection training material for Syria.
