Skills Passport: Regional Mechanism for the Mutual Recognition of Labour Competency Certifications in Latin America and the Caribbean
This brochure explains what the Skills Passport is, its purpose, how it works, and how to be part of efforts to promote safe, orderly and regular labour mobility, as well as access to decent work, particularly for women and young people.
The Skills Passport is an innovative regional tool that enables work skills certifications issued in one country to be recognised in others across Latin America and the Caribbean. Inspired by the Pacific Alliance experience, it is a progressive, tripartite and multilateral model that incorporates valuable lessons learned from regional cooperation processes.
By facilitating the mutual recognition of skills, the Skills Passport strengthens institutional frameworks and public policies that promote safe, orderly and regular labour mobility. It also contributes to expanding access to decent work opportunities, benefiting workers, employers and governments alike.
