Why addressing decent work deficits in the rural economy is important for Unions?
About 80% of the world’s poor reside in rural areas. Their working lives are often characterized by severe decent work deficits including governance gaps, informality, underdeveloped production systems, limited access to public services and inadequate social protection coverage. In this interview, Hilma Mote, Regional Desk Officer for Africa, explains how trade unions may contribute to the promotion of decent work for vulnerable groups in the rural economy.
