On 1 May 2025, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, launched the national LMIS during Labour Day celebrations. The President unveiled Uganda’s Labour Market Information System (LMIS) and Digital Job Matching Platform. The LMIS is designed to improve the collection, analysis, and use of labour market data, helping policymakers, employers, and jobseekers make informed decisions. The system will also bridge gaps between education, training, and employment by providing up-to-date information on labour demand and supply. The LMIS will enhance labour market data and improve job matching.

The day concluded with recognition of individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to advancing decent work and workers’ rights in Uganda.

With the LMIS now in place, Uganda takes a significant step toward a more organized, inclusive, and informed labour market, one that supports its citizens in accessing decent work and contributing to sustainable national growth.
