Tune in: iUpshift promotes youth Innovation in Music & Entrepreneurship
Through the ILO and UNICEF’s iUPSHIFT programme, young innovators are transforming their passion for music into groundbreaking inventions and sustainable businesses.
In 2024, a young musician was invited to join the integrated UPSHIFT (iUPSHIFT - based UNICEF's UPSHIFT tool which adds ILO's business and entrepreneurship training) programme, where he met peers and formed Strings of Happiness, a group focused on music innovation. Competing in iUPSHIFT, they developed unique guitars, including a Bluetooth-enabled model that records and saves music onto a memory card. They were selected for a $5,000 award.
With this support, Strings of Happiness is working to establish a proper workspace, upgrade tools, and build a music school that will not only teach music but also serve as a marketplace for their instruments. iUPSHIFT is empowering young entrepreneurs to turn creativity into opportunity, fostering innovation and job creation in their communities.
