Facilitated by the ILO, this was the tenth National Tripartite Dialogue Forum (NTDF) to be convened, which is becoming institutionalized as the primary platform for tripartite dialogue on key economic and social policy issues.
The Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan includes important strategies on job creation, productivity and labour rights, but should reflect the priorities in the new Decent Work Country Programme agreed by ILO’s constituents.
The NTDF also discussed the latest reforms to the social security system, which has been flagged as a top national priority by HE President Win Myint, as well as implementation of the new minimum wage.
The meeting was updated on the latest progress in labour law reform, and agreed that the skills development law, social security law and workmen’s compensation law should be the next priority focus.
A tripartite delegation led by HE U Thein Swe, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population, will participate in the International Labour Conference next week, which will debate inter alia new protections for women and men against violence and harassment in the workplace.
