ILO Skills Training: A Key to Unlocking Decent Employment in Lebanon

BEIRUT, Lebanon (ILO News) – Skill acquisition is a vital pathway to securing decent employment across the country, as personal experiences from different people active in various sectors show.

The current situation is particularly challenging in Lebanon, where a series of crises have struck the country since 2019, unleashing a relentless wave of challenges impacting the economy, society, and political stability. This has resulted in a significant deterioration in citizens’ quality of life. According to the ILO, Lebanon’s employment ratio has fallen to 30.6%, with youth unemployment rising to 47.8%.

Investing in training and skill building that consider specific market demands is essential to support employment.

Training programmes were carried out through the PROSPECTS Partnership, a programme supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, devising approaches that support better access to education, employment, and protection for refugees and host community members in eight countries across East and North Africa and the Arab States.
