Foundation stone laying ceremony for Jowhar Gravel Road

The foundation stone for Jowhar gravel road was laid in a ceremony held on the 2nd November 2016 in Jowhar district. The stone was laid by His Excellency Ali Abdullahi Guudlawe the Vice President of Hir- Shabelle state.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ahmed Mayre the Interim Governor of Middle Shabelle region, Mr. Sheikh Abdulqadir Buurfuule the District Commissioner of Jowhar, Mr. Salah Muudey the Mayor of Jowhar, Mr. Sugaal Warsame the Deputy Governor and Mr.Abdirisack Moalin Elmi the Director of Ministry of Labor and social affairs (MOLSA).

“Major issues like extremism and piracy mostly affect the youth who are the majority of the Somali population. Through initiatives like this that ensure creation of employment opportunities for the youth will no doubt prevent them from engaging and joining such illegal activities.

We welcome such initiatives and request for more in Hir- Shabelle state,” said by Mr. Gudlawe, the Vice President of Hir- Shabelle state. The Vice President also expressed his gratitude to the International Labour Organization through the Youth Employment Somalia and MOLSA for participating in the improvement of infrastructure in the district while creating job opportunities for the youth.
