Environmental sustainability in a furniture business

Patricia García Tineo is a 50-year-old Peruvian woman. She lives in Metropolitan Lima, in the Independence municipality. In early 2022, Patricia participated in GYB and SYB training to start her furniture reparation business.

The business’ specialty is the reparation of upholstery for chairs. By repairing rather than encouraging the purchase of new furniture, the business contributes to an environmentally responsible economy.

Lately, Patricia has dedicated efforts to building the company’s online presence and defining a concrete digital marketing strategy to increase the clients’ reach of the business. For instance, she designed a Facebook page to promote her products and services, created a Whatsapp business account, and formalized her business by obtaining a license to work in the Independence municipality. Since the SIYB training, Patricia has improved her business and expanded its outreach. Currently, she is generating two job positions: her own and of her employee who provides support to the business’ productive activities.
