Empowering partners through M&E, gender mainstreaming, and knowledge sharing

Mombasa, Kenya,10-12 September 2024 - Key stakeholders from the ACCEL Africa project component in Kenya gathered in Mombasa, for a dynamic and intensive training on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Gender, and Knowledge Sharing. This training, part of the ACCEL Africa 2nd Phase project, aimed to equip participants with essential tools and skills to enhance project accountability, data-driven decision-making, and gender-sensitive approaches to tackling child labour in Kenya’s coffee and tea supply chains.

The training focused on familiarizing participants with the "Results Framework and Indicator Measurement Guidelines," the backbone of the ACCEL Africa project’s Comprehensive M&E Strategy (CMES). Developed in line with the Project’s Logical Framework and gender strategy, the guideliness ensures the regular monitoring of progress toward the ambitious goal of accelerating the elimination of child labour in Africa.

Throughout the three-day program, participants explored critical M&E concepts and methodologies, including Results-Based Monitoring (RBM), data collection tools, and reporting templates. A significant portion of the training was dedicated to integrating gender perspectives into project activities, fostering more inclusive solutions to the root causes of child labour. Engaging discussions on sustainability and the project's exit strategy further empowered stakeholders to take ownership of long-term impacts.

With a participatory approach, the training enabled national partners and implementing agents to actively contribute to data collection, knowledge sharing, and gender mainstreaming. This collaborative exchange will play a vital role in ensuring that the lessons learned during ACCEL Africa's implementation translate into sustainable, lasting change.

The training concluded with actionable steps for incorporating the project’s M&E framework into participants' work, setting the stage for continued efforts in the fight against child labour across Africa.
