“With the ILO’s support, I’m discovering my future”: Jossuarth Herney and the power of technology from Arauca, Colombia
From the warm streets of Arauca, Jossuarth Herney Cáliz López, a 16 year old with a curious mind and a disciplined heart, is shaping his professional future, driven by technology, innovation, and the training offered through the SENATIC Project an initiative led by the Ministry of ICT, SENA and the ILO.

With a keen interest in finance and data automation, this eleventh grade student at Cristo Rey Technical Educational Institution proves that education is a powerful tool for turning dreams into real opportunities.
Born on 7 December 2008 in the municipality of Arauca, capital of the department of the same name, Jossuarth grew up surrounded by friends, radiant sunshine and peaceful streets that offered him a happy childhood. In this friendly environment, he developed a studious and inquisitive personality, always drawn to learning and knowledge.
Today, in his final year of secondary school, Jossuarth is part of the SENATIC project, where he has found a space for learning, technology and innovation a door to a whole new world. Although it was confusing at first “because it was something completely new to me” he quickly adapted, and now not only enjoys each session, but has also launched his own digital automation project.
“It used to be very hard to get connected. Now, with what I’ve learned through SENATIC, I can create things I never imagined,” he says proudly. One of his most recent developments is an automated AI workflow that allows him to generate and publish daily videos for Instagram an example of how his curiosity for technology has become a creative and practical tool.
He dreams of studying finance and specialising in management a path that aligns well with his analytical nature and his vision of the professional world. “My mum is amazed by everything I can do. Whenever something breaks at home, she comes to me to fix it. It makes her feel really proud,” Jossuarth says with a shy smile.
Beyond academics, Jossuarth balances his time between studying and sports he plays futsal and tennis. He keeps away from parties and distractions, choosing instead to focus his energy on personal growth. To other young people, his message is clear:“You have to seize these opportunities in life. Studying is worth it, because one day, everything we learn becomes useful.”
Jossuarth is a shining example of a generation that, with tools like SENATIC and the ILO’s support along their learning journey, is transforming realities from historically marginalised and remote regions proving that dreams have no limits when nurtured with discipline, focus and passion.
