Research Guide: Generative AI and Research - Disclosure and Transparency

AI and AI-assisted technologies should not be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship is a human responsibility. Each (co-) author must ensure the accuracy and integrity of their work. They are accountable for addressing any questions or concerns related to the content.

Authors must explicitly disclose their use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in their manuscripts. A statement acknowledging the use of these technologies will appear in the published work, promoting transparency and trust among stakeholders (authors, readers, reviewers, editors, and contributors). This includes the use of AI-assisted translation technology, which must also be clearly disclosed.

If Generative AI or AI-Assisted Technologies have made a material contribution to the text, this must be acknowledged appropriately (e.g., in a methodological note or disclosure text).
