The United Republic of Tanzania Decent Work Country Programme 2025/26 - 2029/30

On 13 February 2026, the United Republic of Tanzania launched the third generation of the Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) 2025/26–2029/30, reaffirming the joint commitment of Government and Social Partners to advance the Decent Work Agenda in Tanzania. The DWCP serves as a unified national framework anchored on four strategic priorities:

1. Prosperity; Supporting productivity and sustainable incomes in MSMEs, small-scale agriculture, and the blue economy, with a strong focus on youth employability, skills development, formalization, and inclusive growth.
2. Enabling Environment; Strengthening inclusive and gender-responsive institutions that promote peace, expand social protection, eliminate child labour, ensure ethical migration, and enhance climate resilience.
3. Social Dialogue and Tripartism; Enhancing the capacity of Government, employers’ and workers’ organizations to engage constructively and effectively in labour market governance.
4. Labour Standards and Rights at Work; Promoting and upholding labour standards and the fundamental principles and rights at work across all sectors.

As a jointly owned platform of Government, employers and workers, the DWCP embodies Tanzania’s collective commitment to extending decent work opportunities to all. It enables the Government and Social Partners to convene and coordinate labour and employment reforms, mobilize resources, and strengthen institutions in a coherent and inclusive manner.
