Unemployment insurance in Indonesia: Challenges and recommendations
The Government Regulation states that a periodical assessment of the JKP scheme to improve its policy design and its implementation is to be carried out every two years, and this paper aims to contribute analysis of and recommendations for JKP as part of this assessment review.
The unemployment insurance scheme is scheduled to be reviewed periodically. In response to a request for technical inputs to improve the scheme and its implementation, the ILO facilitated a national tripartite meeting in September 2022 and discussed potential challenges and recommendations. This report reflects the discussion there and adds further analysis in accordance with relevant international labour standards and ILO experts’ views.
