Trade, Investment and Decent Work in Africa

In a context of growing trade uncertainty and a shifting economic landscape, this report sheds light on the complex relationship between trade, investment and labour, as well as on the way these dynamics are perceived by workers, employers and governments in Africa.

This publication was produced as part of the project “Trade and investment arrangements: Implementation and stakeholder engagement for promoting decent work“ (IMPLEMENT), funded by the Government of Flanders, Belgium.

The report was prepared by the Globalization, Competitiveness and Labour Standards team of the Research and Statistics Department of the ILO, under the responsibility of Caroline Frederickson, the Department Director.
