Trade and Value Chains in Employment-Rich Activities (TRAVERA) Analysis of the Engineering Products and Services Sectors in Jordan

This report focuses on analysing export-oriented value chains to foster quality job creation and economic upgrading, particularly for small- and medium-sized enterprises. It maps out the value chains of engineering services (such as design, consulting, and technical support) and products (like machinery, components, or industrial equipment), with the overall aim of identifying opportunities for employment generation, skill development, and inclusive growth.

The TRAVERA approach examines strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within the value chains, aiming to enhance competitiveness and sustainability while addressing labour market challenges, to support economic development in developing countries.

METI is a four-year programme funded by the EU and implemented by the ILO. Designed to enable policymakers in the Southern Mediterranean to integrate employment perspectives into trade and investment policies, enhancing both the quality and quantity of job creation in the region.
