Summary of the Diagnosis and Mapping of the Social and Solidarity Economy in Guatemala

“Summary of the Diagnosis and Mapping of the Social and Solidarity Economy in Guatemala” presents a synthesis of a study that maps the social and solidarity economy (SSE) in Guatemala today, and seeks to identify key actors, assess the impact of current policies, and establish a baseline for future interventions. The study was conducted by the ILO in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, highlighting the SSE as a set of entities that combine economic, social, and environmental objectives under principles of cooperation, mutual aid, and democratic participation. It is framed within the International Labour Organization's resolution concerning decent work and the social and solidarity economy (2022) and the United Nations resolutions on the promotion of the social and solidarity economy for sustainable development (2023, 2024). As Guatemala has joined the Ibero-American Network for the Promotion of SSE, its commitment to this economic model is further strengthened.
