Statistical Report on African Migrant Workers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States, Jordan and Lebanon

This report analyses available data on the stocks and flows of African migrant workers to the GCC countries, Jordan and Lebanon, and identifies key gaps in migration statistics.

The document provides a comprehensive statistical mapping of international labour migration among African migrant workers in eight Arab States of destination: the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Jordan and Lebanon. It focuses on eight African countries of origin (Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda), and identifies available data sources on migrant worker stocks and flows, including their distribution by sex and institutional sector. Drawing on a desk review and stakeholder consultations, the report brings together available administrative records, surveys and other statistical sources to address gaps in data on African migrant workers and their migration to the Arab States.

It also examines the availability and limitations of international labour migration statistics and identifies areas where data collection, analysis and dissemination can be strengthened. It concludes with recommendations to improve the availability, quality and accessibility of statistics on African migrant workers and their migration to the Arab States.
