South American Labour Immigration to Argentina - 2011

The ILO and the Argentinean Ministry of Labour Employment and Social Security, gathered a group of scholars to produce a comprehensive book “La inmigración laboral de Sudamericanos en la Argentina". The book includes information on the labour market insertion of South American immigrants in Argentina and identifies improvements in labour conditions. The book mentions that today, Argentina has an exemplary migration model that allows for the immigration of citizens from MERCOSUR and Associated South American countries in a controlled, regulated and, therefore, ordered way. These improvements were the result of important modifications to Argentina’s 2004 legislation and migration policy based on a rights-based approach.
