Socioeconomic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia: Labour market analysis and policy recommendation

This study attempts to examine the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, with a special focus on the sectoral level and Micro, Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs); employment and the labour market; vulnerable groups; skills development; poverty and social mobility; and social protection.

This report is a compilation of current findings of the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 in Indonesia and a discussion of its future direction, with the aim of being an asset in creating better policies against the pandemic. This study uses qualitative and quantitative approaches. The qualitative approach is done through literature reviews and in-depth interviews with business associations, worker unions, and representatives of firms from selected sectors, as well as the tripartite consultations on the draft report. Analysis for the quantitative approach uses National Survey Data (Susenas and Sakernas) for 2018-2021.
