Labour migration
Review of the effectiveness of the MOUs in managing labour migration between Thailand and neighbouring countries
Bilateral MOUs signed between the Government of Thailand, and the Governments of Cambodia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Myanmar more than a decade ago remain the principal agreements aimed at jointly managing labour migration between Thailand and neighbouring countries.
Given considerable changes to the socio-economic and political context in the Greater Mekong Subregion, the ILO has conducted a review of the effectiveness of these MOUs in managing the flow of migrant workers in these corridors, and put forward a number of recommendations to improve the effectiveness.
