Responsible business for decent work in the Indonesian electronics sector: A guide for SMEs

This toolkit was designed in close engagement with the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) as a practical, step-by-step resource to help companies operating in Indonesia’s electronics and wider manufacturing sector to understand and implement Responsible Business Conduct (including HRDD), with a focus on labour rights and decent work.

Content also available in: Bahasa Indonesia

The guide has been developed by the Foundation for International Human Rights Reporting Standards (FIHRRST) and ILO through RISSC Project and METI Skills Project both funded by the Government of Japan, in close consultation with APINDO and selected electronics companies. The guide aims to be practical, accessible, and actionable. By following the guidance provided in this toolkit, SMEs can enhance labour rights protections, improve working conditions, enhance sustainability, and ensure ethical supply chain management while strengthening their market position. The approach outlined here emphasizes continuous improvement, helping SMEs move beyond compliance toward long-term sustainability and responsible growth.
