Rapid impact assessment of disaster on sources of livelihood and employment opportunities (Post-typhoon Sendong conditions in Iligan City)
Storm Washi (Sendong) triggered massive flash floods that killed 1,470 people, injured 2,020 with some 1,074 still unaccounted for. Most of those who survived, especially the poor and vulnerable who used to live in what are now declared "no-build zones", lost their sources of income and livelihood.
The ILO-AusAID Post-calamity Response Project aimed to implement an employment and livelihood recovery response in the aftermath of the Typhoon Washi and ensure a job-rich recovery process resilient to future natural disasters by applying a climate change adaptation approach.
