National Social Protection Strategy of Lao PDR, 2025

The NSPS sets strategic objectives for social protection – in the areas of health insurance, social security and social welfare – and outlines the activities to achieve these objectives. It takes into consideration available resources and the socio-economic context in the country, to protect all Lao people from risks and vulnerabilities, socioeconomic shocks and environmental disasters.
The NSPS was designed through dialogue at the national and local levels between the government, social partners, UN agencies and development partners. It expresses the commitment of the Government of Lao PDR to develop better and more effective social protection, linked to regional and international policies and commitments.
