Market assessment, OSH Risk assessment and business case analysis on occupational safety and health in the Myanmar garment sector

The VZF team conducted a comprehensive mapping of the entire garment value chain, an OSH Risk Assessment and a study on a ‘business case for OSH’, aiming to frame interventions from the perspective of cost-effectiveness and market-based incentives to address OSH issues in the chain.

The survey reported the most common fire-related issues related to trainings, emergency plans, especially to alarm systems, extinguishers and evacuation routes and electrical issues relate to installation coverage, warning signs, lighting, and, exposed wires and it is important to improve the quality of and electrical operators and other technicians like boiler operators.
