Through good governance, La Castellana has progressed from the status of 5th class municipality at the time of introduction of the 1991 local Government Code to that of first class municipality it enjoys today. It has taken a number of initiatives to promote tourism into the area while undertaking innovative programmes locally within the agricultural sector and in terms of seeking to find work for its labour force in other industries in nearby areas.
