Labour Market Supply and Demand for Sri Lankan Migrant Workers

Bridging a knowledge gap in the foreign employment landscape, the findings and recommendations from this study present a blueprint for shaping a more dignified and rewarding foreign employment labour market for Sri Lankan women and men.

ILO Sri Lanka, through the Safe Labour Migration Project, initiated this study to bridge a knowledge gap in the foreign employment landscape. This analysis identifies regions or countries where Sri Lankans can potentially secure access to more promising job prospects and higher salaries, by considering variations in economic growth, job demand, and wage levels across different countries. It helps individuals identify regions with specific skill requirements, enabling them to align their career choices with market demand.

Equally important, this analysis assists Governments in establishing skills development strategies to align with migration trends.
