Impact of the tsunami and earthquake of 26 December 2004 on APINDO’s enterprises in Aceh Province

In collaboration with the Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo), the ILO conducted an assessment of the impact of the earthquake and tsunami on the enterprises of Apindo members in the 14 worst affected districts of Aceh.

According to the assessment the disaster has damaged productivity by an estimated 68%. It also points to the difficulties in restarting any significant activity in enterprises in which on average 40% of the staff and 60% of the office and workshop equipment have been lost.
