Gender and statistics in the world of work in the Arab States Region

The Brief on Gender and Statistics in the Arab States region examines the critical role of quality, disaggregated labour statistics in advancing gender equality and inclusion in the world of work across the Arab States. It reviews the availability and use of labour force surveys across the region and highlights how gender-responsive data can strengthen the measurement of key issues, including women’s participation in leadership, the gender pay gap, women in STEM, violence and harassment in the world of work, and unpaid care work. It underscores the need to strengthen data collection, analysis and dissemination to better track progress, inform evidence-based policies and advance decent work, gender equality and inclusion across the Arab States.
