The estimation of total domestic workers in Indonesia

The study is aimed at estimating domestic workers in Indonesia based on the existing data provided by the regular household surveys; namely, the National Labour Force Survey or Sakernas and the National Socio-Economic Survey or Susenas.

Sakernas-LFS 2012 provides estimates of total IDWs and ODWs as about 423,000 and 2.1 million respectively. These show that most DWs were ODWs and only about 17% of the total were IDWs. Susenas-SES 2012 provides a higher estimate of the total number of IDWs; that was about 747,000 in 2012.
