Employment and Labour Relations bill
Botswana's new Employment and Labour Relations Bill (2025) is a comprehensive reform that consolidates previous legislation and aligns with International Labour Standards. The bill modernizes the labor law framework by covering employment status, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution, and includes new provisions for fixed-term workers, domestic workers, and the informal sector. The ILO provided technical assistance for this reform, and the legislation aims to strengthen worker protections and ensure a more modern and compliant labor system.
