Trade for Jobs Uganda

Destination: Pearl of Africa - A market systems analysis with a focus on trade and employment

This market systems analysis (MSA) of Uganda’s tourism sector aims to identify key constraints and opportunities for growth, with a focus on enhancing the livelihoods of local communities and workers in the tourism value chain.

The research was conducted through a combination of fieldwork, stakeholder consultations, and secondary data analysis, aiming to understand barriers to the sector’s development and better target actionable interventions. The findings highlight critical challenges in infrastructure, human capital, institutional coordination, and market linkages, all of which hinder Uganda's ability to fully capitalise on its tourism potential.
