Assessment of the Social Security System in Ukraine 2008–09

The global economic crisis — the “Great Recession” — has had a profound impact on the world of work. In Ukraine, the negative effects of the crisis on enterprises and workers emerged in late 2008, but have worsened since. This study has been produced as part of the ILO’s efforts to support the country’s crisis response and its attempts to achieve a sustainable and inclusive economic recovery, in line with the Global Jobs Pact. It provides an assessment of the current social security system in Ukraine in the context of the global economic crisis and identifies priority actions in the field of social security.
