Transition to Employment: Career Guidance for Youth and Job Creation

This project will support a more effective and quicker transition from school to work, leading to more and better jobs for youth and job seekers. It will also contribute to establishing linkages with relevant stakeholders in selected project sites, especially enterprises who will provide training and employment opportunities to youth.

Project Background

Implementation strategy

The foreseen activities of the project are:

Providing capacity building training for staff in ten Public Employment Services (PES) offices.
Training technical schools teachers on career guidance learning book.
Forming task force groups in all project sites.
Arranging youth trainings.
Organizing job fairs in project sites.
Compiling a mapping exercise on Labour Market Information (LMI) in project sites.

Objectives and expected outcomes

The main outcomes and immediate objectives of the project are:

Ten Pilot Youth Units will be established in ten selected Public Employment Services offices in ten governorates (affiliated to the Ministry of Manpower and Migration); the capacity of staff and career counsellors will be enhanced through intensive training programme to equip them to operate the PES offices and further deliver career guidance, job counselling, job search skills, and life skills to youth job seekers.
Youth in selected areas will have increased access to PES services, which will include a more and better understanding of the labour market, how it functions, job opportunities available, and life skills needed in labour market to allow them to make better career planning along with education and training choices.
PES offices will have enhanced contacts with enterprises to promote job insertion scenes and apprenticeship agreements to employ and train young men and women at project sites.
