The Sustainable Employment and Economic Development (SEED) programme aims at reducing conflict by improving economic and employment prospects, targeting young people and women in insecure areas. The SEED Programme is designed to make markets work for the poor. ILO’s contribution has focused on four key areas:
- Direct support for employment opportunities;
- Investment in market-related infrastructure;
- Strengthening public and private sector institutions to create sustainability through their ability to participate and regulate markets;
- Bringing in new approaches to market development in a conflict sensitive manner.
