The EU Gender project supports the promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace in Somalia through
economic participation supporting broader equality and participation.

We aim to improve the (self) employability of women through training on entrepreneurship and enterprise skills. The ILO Somalia programme will also facilitate an enabling environment through the development of private business support services. These activities will promote gender equality and contribute to reducing poverty through enhancing opportunities available to women and improving the enabling environment for women in business.

The results of the project are threefold:
  • Result 1: Capacity to develop evidence-based policy making through a consultative process for Women Enterprise Development (WED) increased;
  • Result 2: Representation, advocacy and voice of women entrepreneurs promoted;
  • Result 3: Capacity for women entrepreneurs enhanced through Business Development Services (BDS).
