Promoting Rights and Opportunities for People with Disabilities in Employment through Legislation (PROPEL -Zambia)

PROPEL aims at improving access of young women and men with disabilities to mainstream skills development programmes. In collaboration with Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education (MESTVEE) inclusive training is being piloted in five colleges namely Kaoma trades Training Institute, Lusaka Business and Technical College, Mansa Trades Training Institute, Luanshya Technical and Business College and the National Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre. The main activities under this programme phase include the development of a course on inclusive education for teachers, initially delivered for the teachers in the participating pilot colleges as well as supporting the Technical Education and Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) in promoting inclusive vocational education and training through disability mainstreaming of technical curricula and through inclusion of disability as a topic in the national teacher training curriculum.
