Improving the safety and health of workers in value chains in the Republic of the Congo

The project promotes decent work in the forestry value chain in the Republic of the Congo by strengthening occupational safety and health (OSH) and reducing occupational risks, particularly for workers in vulnerable situations.

Main Objectives

The project has four main objectives:

1. Develop strategies to improve OSH for workers in the forestry value chain.
2. Strengthen national legal and policy frameworks to ensure safe and healthy working conditions.
3. Strengthen the capacities of relevant organizations and institutions in the area of OSH, particularly those of the social partners and the labour inspectorate, to promote compliance with legislation.
4. Improve OSH in the workplace by facilitating the implementation of worker protection measures and promoting a culture of prevention.

The project is implemented through the Vision Zero Fund (VZF), as part of the ILO’s flagship Safety + Health for All programme, which aims to improve the safety and health of workers worldwide.
