Improving the safety and health of workers in the construction value chain in Madagascar

The project promotes decent work in the construction value chain in Madagascar by strengthening OSH and reducing occupational risks, particularly for workers in vulnerable situations. It focuses on addressing OSH risks in quarries and other high-risk activities linked to the construction value chain.

Main objectives

The project has four main objectives:

1. Develop strategies to improve OSH for workers in the construction value chain, with a particular focus on quarrying activities.
2. Strengthen national legal and policy frameworks to ensure safe and healthy working conditions.
3. Strengthen the capacities of relevant organizations and institutions in OSH, particularly those of the social partners and the labour inspectorate, to promote compliance with legislation.
4. Improve OSH in workplaces by facilitating the implementation of worker protection measures and promoting a culture of prevention.

The project is implemented through the Vision Zero Fund (VZF), as part of the ILO’s flagship Safety + Health for All programme, which aims to improve the safety and health of workers worldwide.
