The project “Improving occupational safety and health (OSH) and access to social protection for workers in the natural rubber value chain in Côte d’Ivoire” addresses the critical need to improve occupational safety and health (OSH) and to expand access to social protection for workers in the rubber value chain, particularly informal workers and smallholder farmers.
The project is part of the overall support framework of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for the promotion of decent work through improved OSH and social protection in Côte d’Ivoire. Its implementation will help promote safer working conditions, reduce occupational risks, and extend social protection coverage to the most vulnerable workers, thereby ensuring inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Main objectives
The project pursues three main objectives:
- The development by key stakeholders of intervention strategies to improve OSH and access to health-related social protection for workers in the rubber value chain
- Capacity building of value chain actors to improve OSH practices and promote workers’ health
- Mobilization of value chain actors to extend social protection coverage to workers and their families, in particular health-related social protection
This project is implemented under two ILO flagship programmes: Safety + Health for All and Social Protection Floors for All.
